IWUF Training Course

Dear Members:

Greetings from Beijing! As you are aware, under the leadership of President Yu and the excellent team work of all our members, the IWUF and the development of wushu have achieved remarkable growth and progress especially in the last few years. This is witnessed in the recent successful execution of our pinnacle events, short-listed for the 2020 Summer Olympics, the Nanjing Wushu Tournament and the Sports Lab, and wushu’s inclusion into the 2017 Universiade, among many others.

With that said, we are fully aware that there are still much more work that we need to do in order to maintain the on-going and steady progress and momentum that we have achieved thus far, and to bring our organization and sport to the next level. One of the goals we have for the next few years is to provide more technical training and support to our members, especially to those who are located in the regions where the sport of wushu is underdeveloped. With this in mind, we have developed the attached Training Course Host Application Form for those members that are interested in hosting event(s) in 2015.

Interested applicants please fill out the attached application and send it to Mr. Byron Jacobs, Manager of Technical and Event, at byron.jacobs@iwuf.org by Monday, December 15th, 2014.

The IWUF Secretariat will coordinate with the Technical Committee and continental federations in organizing these 2015 events. However, kindly note the following:

  1. We cannot guarantee that every application will be granted to host the event applied for, while we would try our best to accommodate our members’ needs, there are various factors that we also have to take into considerations: the proximity from another similar event, the qualification and competence of the organizer, funding availability, technical trainers schedule and the development status of wushu in the organizer’s regions etc.

  1. Please note that the Technical Committee has already scheduled some events for 2015. Newly planned events would have to coordinate with those already scheduled.

  1. We are trying to establish more dialogue with our members regarding technical support and training needs, we hope this is a good start to assist our members in this regard. However, please be patient and understanding while we are in the process of making changes and improvement, as I am sure some of these programs will not happened overnight.

Thank you, and kind regards.
