British Taijiquan Team 2024
This August the British Taijiquan team will be travelling to Singapore to compete in the 4th World Taijiquan Championships. Five of the country’s top Taijiquan athletes will represent Britain under the auspices of the BCCMA. Barry Phelan (Team Captain), Yoko Yaghmaie, Danae Holtby, Myrsini-Chionia Christodoulelli and Stan Baltsezak have been very committed and worked very hard in squad training.
The team is well balanced and versatile and consists of both experienced athletes and young blood. Between them they will be representing a wide variety of taijiquan including traditional routines, including Yang style hand forms and weapons, competition routines including combined taijiquan and taijijian, Sun Style and 56 Chen style also the new compulsory routines including Chen taijiquan and Chen taijijian. In my years of competition this is very rare and rather unique to see in any team at international level representing so many categories in different taijiquan disciplines and styles and something I’m certainly very proud to be a part of. I would personally like to congratulate them and wish them all the very best of luck.
