Taiji Athletes at British National Wushu Taolu Championships

The British National Traditional Wushu Championships were held on the 13th of July 2024 at Allestree Woodlands School in Derby. The event showcased athletes from various backgrounds of traditional Chinese martial arts, including Northern, Southern and Internal styles, imitation forms, and performances with long, short, and flexible weapons. The total individual entries were 43 and total category entries were 66. Athletes from as far as Hong Kong, Macau, Italy and Sweden attended and provided a high standard. This provided a perfect opportunity for the British National Taijiquan team to compete before going to Singapore in August for the 4th World Taijiquan Championships. Three athletes from the national squad attended, Yoko Yaghmaie, Danae Holtby and Myrsini-Chionia Christodoulelli.
Congratulations to both Yoko and Myrsini between them they won a total of 4 medals. Myrsini won two golds for the Compulsory Chen Taijiquan and Taijijian and Yoko won Silver for the 42 combined Taijijian routine and bronze for the 73 Sun style Taijiquan competition routine. Congratulations, on your fantastic performance and results. Thank you very much to all the BCCMA officials, members, judges, competitors for making this event a huge success and for all the hard work that allows its members and competiters such a wonderful opportunity.
